Region-free modification of Panasonic DMP-BD30/BD35/BD55

The Panasonic DMP-BD30/35/55 are one of the few blu-ray players that can be chipped to be completely region-free for both Blu-ray and DVD discs, thanks to the people at www.bluraymods.com .

Blu-ray region selection is achieved by pushing (on the remote), 1 for region A, 2 for region B, or 3 for region C while powering on the player.

Below is an example of the BD30 chip modification.

Below is the completed modification, which took about an hour. About 10 wires run from various parts of the boards to the mod circuit board which is held in place with double-sided tape, or, as I chose, velcro. This is not a particularly easy mod to do because of the disassembly of the fragile circuit boards and connectors, and the fine soldering to very small parts (for example the wires to the green motherboard connect to resistors which are 1mm in width).

Panasonic DMP-BD30 - $180 (Australian model).

Panasonic DMP-BD35 - $180 (Australian model).

Panasonic DMP-BD55 - $180 (European model).

For modification of USA models, add A$20.

If you're posting your player to me, naturally you will need to add the return postage charges ($30, registered and insured, except WA which is $40). Alternatively, if you live locally, drop off and pickup is fine.

Please bear in mind that this modification will VOID your Panasonic warranty. However the modification can be reversed, bringing the player back to near original condition. My suggestion is to buy a player, use it for a month or so, by which time any issues should appear, and if it's working fine, ship it to me for the modification. For peace of mind, I have a 3 month warranty on the modified players I supply, and on the mods themselves.
